French Startup disrupts the aircraft seating market

Expliseat, newcomer to the industry and maker of the seat, says that the weight reduction achieved will correspond to a savings of US$300,000 to US$500,000 per year per aircraft for operators. Expliseat promises exceptional performance in robustness and maintenance costs thanks to a combination of titanium-composite structure and simple assembly (30 parts as opposed to the 500-piece average for a standard seat).

The TITANIUM seat is being touted by its manufacturer as a revolutionary 4kg per-passenger patented technology that reduces seat weight by at least 50% for a fuel saving of 3% to 5%.

The TITAMIUM’s 2-inch thick backrest is closely tailored to the human back for ideal comfort with additional legroom, while the technical textile used absorbs impact and movements from passengers in the row behind.

The seat caters to economy class, short and medium haul airline operators and is adaptable to single-aisle Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 airframes.
